The Life and Legacy of Allan Houser
Allan Houser (Haozous) was born in 1914 near Apache, Oklahoma, a direct descendant of the Warm Springs Chiricahua Apache and the great leader Geronimo. Over a career spanning more than five decades, he became one of the most influential Native American sculptors of the 20th century, working in bronze, stone, steel, and wood alongside a prolific body of paintings, drawings, and lithographs.
His work has been exhibited and collected worldwide. Today, Allan Houser Inc. carries forward his legacy as a fine art business serving international collectors, cultural institutions, and educators. The gallery is located in downtown Santa Fe, with the sculpture garden situated on Houser’s original compound south of the city.
Available Works
Original sculptures, paintings, drawings, and lithographs by Allan Houser are available for acquisition through the downtown Santa Fe gallery. The collection spans his full career and includes works in bronze, stone, charcoal, pastel, ink, oil, acrylic, watercolor, and gouache .Acquiring a work by Allan Houser is a consultative process. The gallery works closely with collectors, advisors, and institutions to place each piece thoughtfully.
Sculpture Garden
The Allan Houser Sculpture Garden — South of Santa Fe, NM
Located on the artist’s original compound south of Santa Fe, the Allan Houser Sculpture Garden holds one of the largest collections of his monumental works in their intended setting. Visitors experience large-scale bronzes, stone carvings, and steel sculptures across a landscape that Houser himself chose and shaped.
Guided tours are available by appointment on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The sculpture garden is a separate destination from the downtown gallery, so plan accordingly. Private group visits and school field trips can be arranged through the gallery.

Collections & Exhibitions
Allan Houser’s work is held in permanent collections at major institutions around the world, including the United Nations, the U.S. Capitol, and the Smithsonian. Many of these monumental placements remain on loan from the Houser estate.
Three curated traveling exhibitions are currently available for institutional loan. Museums and galleries interested in hosting an Allan Houser exhibition are invited to contact the gallery for details.
Events & News
Allan Houser Inc. hosts public events, open houses, and cultural programming throughout the year. The gallery also welcomes private event inquiries for the sculpture garden compound.
