The Next Conversation at Allan Houser Gallery
The Allan Houser Gallery was proud to welcome collectors, artists, friends, and members of the Santa Fe community for a memorable reception celebrating Gregory Lomayesva and his exhibition, The Next Conversation.
The evening brought together generations of artists and art lovers in celebration of Gregory’s distinctive body of work. Through painting, sculpture, masks, and mixed media, his work reflects a deeply personal contemporary vision—one informed by cultural memory while remaining unmistakably his own.
For Gregory, the opportunity to exhibit at the Allan Houser Gallery carried special meaning. His father, William Lomayesva, studied under Allan Houser at the Institute of American Indian Arts during its formative years, creating a connection between the two families that reaches back more than half a century.
Gregory was deeply humbled by the enthusiastic response to the exhibition and by the opportunity to share his work in a space connected to Allan Houser’s enduring influence as both an artist and educator.
He extends his heartfelt thanks to the Haozous family for generously sharing their gallery space with him, welcoming his work, and allowing him the opportunity to become part of a conversation that began generations ago.
That spirit is at the heart of The Next Conversation: honoring what came before while creating space for artists to speak in their own voices and carry Native art forward in new and individual directions.
