SANTA FE, N.M. —The Allan Houser Foundation will present Bronze Glow, a special community celebration at the Allan Houser Sculpture Garden on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The event will take place at the Allan Houser Sculpture Garden, located at 26 Haozous Road, approximately 12 miles south of Santa Fe. Students will be admitted free of charge, and a $20 donation will be accepted from adults in support of the Foundation’s educational and cultural programs.

Bronze Glow will give children, families and visitors of all ages a rare opportunity to experience Allan Houser’s monumental sculptures illuminated beneath the New Mexico night sky. Farolito-lit pathways will lead visitors through the garden, bringing together Houser’s art, the surrounding landscape and the stars in a memorable evening setting.

Santa Fe photographer Paul Horpedahl will present an exhibition of his nighttime photography featuring Allan Houser’s sculptures beneath the stars. Horpedahl will discuss the techniques and careful planning involved in photographing constellations behind major works of art, including Sacred Rain Arrow and May We Have Peace. A selection of his photographic prints will be available for purchase.

A central focus of Bronze Glow will be inspiring young people through art. Children will receive free coloring and activity sheets featuring Allan Houser bronzes, along with brief, age-appropriate stories and questions about each work.

Young visitors will be encouraged to explore the sculpture garden, find the bronze pictured on their coloring page and observe its details before returning to the children’s coloring stations to create their own interpretation. Shared tables and art supplies will encourage conversation among children and families about the sculptures and the stories they represent.

“At a time when many young people in New Mexico face serious challenges, it is especially important to provide positive experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and a sense of possibility,” said Marianne Griego, event organizer. “A single encounter with an artist or a work of art can remain with a child for a lifetime. Imagine the impact of seeing Allan Houser’s monumental bronzes illuminated beneath the stars. That experience could inspire a child to draw, sculpt, tell stories or begin believing in their own ability to create.”

The program reflects Allan Houser’s legacy not only as an internationally recognized artist, but also as an influential teacher and storyteller. Through his work, Houser shared stories of Chiricahua Apache culture, ceremony, family, strength, peace and the broader human experience.

The evening will also feature music, refreshments, light snacks and a live drone light show. Visitors may explore the sculpture garden and learn more about the life, artistic vision and enduring legacy of Allan Houser.
