The Allan Houser Gallery is proud to present a special exhibition of new work by Gregory Lomayesva, an internationally recognized painter, sculptor, and mixed-media artist whose work bridges heritage and contemporary culture with remarkable originality.
Drawing from his Hopi and Hispanic roots while embracing influences ranging from Modernism and Pop Art to music and abstraction, Lomayesva creates a visual language entirely his own. Bold color, layered symbolism, carved forms, and expressive imagery come together in works that are at once deeply personal and universally engaging.
Lomayesva’s connection to Allan Houser is both artistic and historical. During the formative years of the Institute of American Indian Arts, Gregory’s father, Hopi artist William “Bill” Lomayesva, studied while Allan Houser was helping shape the school’s renowned sculpture program. Like Houser, Gregory has pursued an independent artistic vision—one that honors cultural traditions while continually pushing beyond them.
His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is represented in museums, galleries, and private collections throughout the United States and abroad. Whether working in painting, sculpture, or mixed media, Lomayesva invites viewers into a conversation about identity, imagination, and the shared human experience.
