Monumental Sculpture on the Artist’s Own Land
The Allan Houser Sculpture Garden occupies Haozous Place, the 50-acre compound south of Santa Fe off Highway 14 (the historic Turquoise Trail), where Allan Houser lived and worked from 1976 until his death in 1994. He built his studios here. He chose this land. The approximately 70 large-scale sculptures in bronze, stone, and steel displayed across 12 acres of juniper-covered hills are positioned exactly as Houser intended, against panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
The on-site gallery adds four rooms of smaller sculptures, drawings, and paintings, along with two exhibition spaces showing works rarely seen by the public. Adjacent to the sculpture garden, the Bob Haozous WALKABOUT features monumental steel sculptures by Allan’s son, making Haozous Place one of the few places where the work of two generations of the Haozous family can be experienced together.
This is the artist’s own compound, maintained by his estate, open by private appointment only.

Tours of the Allan Houser Sculpture Garden begin with a short film about Allan Houser’s life and work, followed by a guided walk through the sculpture garden. Tour guides discuss individual sculptures, Houser’s methods, and the history of the Chiricahua Apache and the Haozous family. Gallery and exhibition access is included with every tour.
